A note about cropping
Most photographers shoot in a 3:2 aspect ratio. Here’s what that means for common print sizes:
- 6×4 — Exact match for 3:2, so no cropping is needed.
- 7×5 — Slightly different shape. A small amount of cropping will occur.
- 8×6 — More square than 3:2. Expect a moderate crop.
- 10×8 — Significantly more square. Expect a stronger crop, especially at the sides.
- A4 / A3 — Taller and narrower than 3:2. Some cropping is needed to fit the shape.
