Folio Tour Pal… Mandy Carter

Mandy Carter is one of the Folio Freedom Tour pals for our Cambridge date. Mandy is one half of both Truly Madly Dottie Photography and Dottie Creations (the other half is her best friend Zoe). The two parts of Mandy’s companies allow her to both shoot weddings, and inject her creative spark into the smaller details of the day.

Mandy’s inspired approach to both wedding photography and the shoot itself, ensure that she is able to provide her couples with a completely unique outcome from the time that they spend together. Through designing and personalising everything from the wedding invitations and programmes to the table plans and place settings (and even wedding favours!) Mandy’s creativity is woven into her client’s wedding day to compose something truly, madly, special. Mandy’s creative spark both in front and behind the lens ensures that the photographs taken of the day resonate her fun personality and those of her clients. Mixing the inspiration of her couples with her own imaginative approach to photography guarantees that everything is styled and crafted to create the perfect wedding day and wedding photographs. Just looking at her work shows everyone that although Mandy may be truly, madly, dottie, she still manages to get “that” shot.

I asked Mandy to provide an image that she really loved and – like Hayley – selecting just one was not an easy feat (Mandy even emailed three through to use to make us decide!). The image and comment that Mandy provided shows how she has fun with her clients and does something a little different with her photography.

“When I met Rachel’s, the bride’s, father at their pre-wedding visit at Stapleford Park, we were discussing how many daughters he had and how hard up he was slowly becoming….which set my mind thinking all the way home. After a two hour drive I had visualised the shot and with a small purchase of a printable calculator off of ebay, some very quickly photographed bank notes along with the front cover of the financial times, followed by a little bit of photoshopping…I was ready!”
