Folio Tour Pal… Stuart Cooper

Stuart Cooper is one of our Folio Freedom Tour pals for our West London date. The years Stuart spent developing his skill and ‘eye’ for photography has produced a creative and natural style that constantly amazes.

Stuart prefers to keep the lens cap on until he has built up a rapport with his clients. This means that when he does put the shutter to work, Stuart knows that he can capture all of the beauty and emotion of his clients and their families. Whether it is a wedding, portrait, or maternity and baby shoot, Stuart keeps this personal approach the same. Through getting to know his clients Stuart is able to blend seamlessly into their special day and capturing the relationships between everyone present, and all of the emotions that lie behind the day itself. His self-created brand of contemporary lifestyle photography, and keen attention to detail, allows him to capture moments that will remain precious and treasured for over a lifetime.

I asked Stuart to provide an image that he really loved alongside a small commentary, and the photograph that he provided truly shows how he manages to photograph emotions as though they are physical subjects.

“This image is taken from a recent Engagement Session. Hayley and Dan are a great looking couple, and Hayley is a great photographer herself so I knew we had to do something special. We threw a few ideas around for location, and then they mentioned that they had a little boat so we decided that it had to be done on the beach. We set up a Pinterest board, started adding ideas for the session, and chose to do the shoot quite late in the evening starting about 5 o’clock. This gave us some gorgeous soft warm light and the whole session was shot on medium format Fuji 400H film so it had a beautiful glow to it. There were too many shots that I loved to choose from but this was definitely one of my favorites.”
