Two different styles of handmade albums,
the same quality and care

We offer two styles of album – our signature Fine Art Books and our Matted Albums. Every album is handcrafted with the highest quality, eco-friendly materials and care to beautifully showcase any type of photography. Both album styles offer a broad range of cover, paper and personalisation options to make every product a one-off.

Fine Art Books

Clean and simple lines for exquisite presentation.

Where we began. Hand-bound and using the finest quality cover materials, papers and inks, our Fine Art Books have captured the attention of professional photographers all over the world. Since their launch in 2010, our books have become the industry standard that others have tried to emulate.

We haven’t meddled with the original format. Images are printed directly on to the page and each double spread opens out flat with an almost invisible crease so your photographic art can be displayed across two pages.

✓ Unrestricted lay-out ✓ Papers bonded back-to-back, for flexibility and durable handling ✓ Archival-quality materials to last a lifetime ✓ Maximum of 40 double page spreads

Matted Albums

Our modern, luxury take on a classic.

Our handcrafted Matted Albums elevate the traditional album form to a new level with the same quality and attention to detail as our Fine Art Books.

Your prints are expertly mounted beneath precision-cut bevelled mats of conservation grade. Each aperture becomes a window through which the viewer can take time to fully appreciate images in turn. Each page consists of six, hand assembled, layers, measuring a substantial 2.5mm in thickness. The albums lie flat and are trimmed flush for a perfect finish.

✓ Sumptuous page turn ✓ Self-contained pages ✓ High-Impact Image and space juxtaposition ✓ Maximum of 30 double page spreads

Don't just open
one of our albums,
discover the quality

The outstanding quality of our handmade albums gives your artistry a place to shine and we don’t compromise on any element of their creation. There’s the clever design, careful by-hand construction in our workshop, and the use of high-end papers and print techniques. Our albums are crafted to be cherished for a lifetime.

We're proud to be square

The square, in all of its simplicity and harmony, played a central role in Roman architecture and we see no reason to unsettle the equilibrium.

Both our Fine Art Books and Matted Albums, come in square form so we can bring balance to your images whether portrait or landscape.

Both album styles are available in dimensions of 12”x12”, 10”x10” and 8”x8”. In addition, our Fine Art Books can be ordered in 6”x6” format.

Quality paper that lasts
and lasts...

Our fine art papers are truly worthy of their place inside our handmade albums and marry beautifully with our pigment-based inks. Our papers are selected to last a lifetime and have an impeccable, sustainable provenance.

Our range of papers will provide the effect you’re striving for. We offer a choice of matte-finished Art White and Art Cotton for all albums, with the additional thicker option of Gallery Cotton for our Fine Arts Books and baryta Gallery Pearl for our Matted Albums.

We've got
it covered...

In our case, you can judge a book by its cover and our customers love that we offer a comprehensive choice of high quality cover materials and colours included in the base price. We’ve recently expanded our range of Contemporary Leathers to 18 fabulous colours.

Alternatively, you can choose from our fabrics collection, selected for strength and environmental qualities. Our Essential Cotton range features 100 per cent cotton colours while our rayon-based Fabrics come in in either fresh Pastels or statement Bolds.

Presentation is
everything...

Opening up a box to discover the secret inside appeals to the child in all of us. We want the moment your client receives their album to recapture a little bit of the excitement of their big day.

As standard, all albums, including 6”x6” books, arrive in a Craft Cardboard box. Fine Art Books are presented inside a natural Cotton Bag and Matted Albums come in a natural Cotton Wrap.

For extra special impact, you can upgrade. Our beautiful new Clam Shell boxes are available to present both Fine Art Books and Matted Albums, or you could choose an exclusive Designer Bag or a Bamboo Box in which to present your Fine Art Book.

Small but perfectly
formed mini-copies.

Our stylish square format enables us to go smaller scale with ease.

Our 6”x6” Fine Art Books are available as direct copies of our larger 12”x12”, 10”x10” and 8”x8” books, or as duplicates of a 6”x6” main book. Perfect for clients to present to family and friends, they are made in exactly the same way as our larger books.

The small albums come with either our Pastel Fabric, Bold Fabric or Essential Cotton covers so you can coordinate with the larger albums if you wish. If you want to order a copy bound in one of our leathers, silk or Photo Cotton, you can simply order your 6”x6” as a main album. Although our 6”x6” format isn’t available for Matted Albums, we can make a copy of your main Matted Album as a Fine Art Book.

Designing your album

Our new web-based album designer, Folio Albums Designer, is available for our customers to use free of charge and has a number of advantages.

  • You can create, save and edit on any device with a web browser, including tablets
  • Choose from more than 600 professionally designed templates
  • The designer has ‘proofing’ built in so you can share a design with clients and see their feedback notes, making it super easy to identify requested changes. Unlike some companies we don’t charge for this service
  • Using our system makes it easier for our customer care team to review and help with your album design
  • Once your design has been completed the high resolution exports are sent directly to us!

You can also design your album using software including SmartAlbums, Fundy Designer, Album Stomp, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.

We recommend you initially send us a test spread – that’s a double page layout. We can then confirm if the file is suitable before you go on to design your complete album. This is especially important if it’s your first album with us, or the first time you’ve used the software.

Once you’ve created your complete album design, we advise that you do a double check of the high resolution exports. You can then place your order and upload your spreads.

Finally, our Matted Albums include a FREE design service which can be requested from within the Folio Albums Designer.
